As a response to Image Comics, Malibu's Ultraverse kicked off a new shared superhero universe. Prime was a modern take on Shazam, wherein 8th grader Kevin Green can transform into muscle-bound hero Prime.
By the time this issue came out, Marvel had purchased Malibu Comics as an investment in digital coloring technology, so this issue is actually published by Marvel, rather than Malibu.
Since Prime was purchased by Marvel, this issue not only has a crossover with Spider-Man, but Prime becomes Spider-Man!
